The assignment was to design a community centre in a small Nova Scotian coastal town. I chose a site on the town’s school property to integrate the school and the community centre to improve the run down lot, to provide the school with a gymnasium, and to repurpose the historical school building to use it in a more efficient way.

The building was sited to form a central green space with the school and the community centre. The site was connected to the town by a series of walkways which run along the coast. The building itself faced the community.
